install net-snmp on FreeBSD 7.1-REL

 

This is currently a work in progress to get a APC SmartUPS setup with SNMP.

prompt# cd /usr/ports/net-mgt/net-snmp

prompt# make install && make clean.

** got an already installed error so I did a make deinstall and make reinstall and make clean..

Notes on first setup of Snow Leopard 10.6.3 server

1. On initial install. Create the Local user Admin account. This account will be different then both the Open Directory Administrator, AND  the normal Open Directory user that can Admin the system. All of they're shortname must be different.

2. Setup the servers IP's..  If you don't know and you're using DHCP, then sell the server and quit..

3. DO NOT set up any local users or any services on first install!.  Get the system up and running first with generic DNS.
